who is reading??
I am just wondering who reads my blog. Please leave me a comment. I am pretty sure I have changed the settings so that you don't HAVE to have a blog here to comment. (I could be wrong though)
just some pictures to share
I take too many pictures. But here are a few I think are pretty cute (or funny)

Here is Sarah, eating (or rather shredding) some bread
Sam and Sarah having some playtime together on the floor. Sam KNOWS when something he is doing is cute- and tells me I should take a picture. Its funny.

This is too funny to leave out. The crown we got for getting a lottery ticket for the Koninginnedag (Queens Day) Sam usually claims it- but I managed to get a shot of Edwin being goofy with it. Hey- he took picutres of me 6 months pregnant decked out in a whole bunch of orange stuff when I got my dutch nationality. Paybacks suck. hehehe.
And lastly, on Saturday we got Sarah a highchair. We could have just used Sams, but after a few years of Sam abusing it we questioned its structural integrity. Plus, he still uses it (it breaks down into a small table and chair- so does Sarah's). When we put hers together and set her in it, Sam wanted to sit in his too. So now he sits in his chair at the table- which is funny, because up until we got Sarah a chair, he wanted to sit in a regular chair (even though he is not really tall enough) So I guess it was a good call getting Sarah her own. It was on sale, too (which is always good)

changed the language
a friend of mine brought to my attention that the link which allows you to comment was in dutch- and she was afraid to comment because she didn't know what the heck she was agreeing to. So I have fixed it to English for you all- since the majority of my friends and family are all English speakers. Sorry about the confusion, if you were wanting to leave a comment, and had no idea how!!!

This was Sarah's first bite of solid food- we gave her a banana. As you can see, she was less than thrilled. That has changed a bit, though.
here she is with a cookie. She kind of prefers to feed herself. It makes a fun mess.
This is what happens when you leave the room for a second and leave an open jar of babyfood behind. Sam thought he would help out, and this is what I came back to. Sarah thought it was cool.
And here is Sarah, covered in some Carrots. She covered me in it, too. I haven't gotten the stains out, yet- but this taught me (though I should have remembered this from Sam) to make sure I wear an OLD SHIRT when feeding the baby things that will stain. I hope I get the stains out....
Sarah's growth
I meant to post this sooner- sorry. Sarah had her 6 month check up last week, and she is doing great. She's ahead of the curve- both with growth and her development. She weighs 7.86 kilos and is 68 cm tall. Or 17.3 pounds and 26.7 inches tall. So she is bigger than average in both categories. Actually I looked back at Sam's chart, and she is exactly as tall as he was at thi age, but she weighs a little over a hundred grams more. Logical- since she weighed more at birth than he did.

Sarah is 6 months old today!!!!

I cannot believe how fast that has gone! Or how big she is! She is trying to crawl- though she has not been successful yet, she has this little worm-like movement that propels her forward. Its very funny to watch. Still no teeth- but I have the feeling several are trying to break through at once.
She is very independant. We started trying to give her some solids, which at first she hated. And she prefers to do it herself. Today I gave her about half of a banana, which she held and managed to eat about two thirds of. I was impressed.
She has her 6 month check up on Wednesday- so I will be able to report height and weight then- though we DID weigh her at my mom's before we left, and she was 18 pounds!

Just to start with...

I apologize that I have yet to post anything new. I wanted to when I started this blog- but what can I say- I have demanding children- both of whom always seem to want my undivided attention the instant I sit behind the computer.
But I thought I would sneak a moment anyways, and share a few pictures from the Grand Canyon. If you have never been- I must reccomend going at some point. This place is so unbelievably massive- its hard for the brain to take in. Sam was so cute about it. For a while after we got there, he kept shouting out "Holy Moly!!!", which amused other passers-by, and had us cracking up. We went with Troy, who is my surrogate older brother, and we had a really great time. It was a bit tough, Sam didn't feel like walking, and we forgot to bring Sarah's carrier, so Sam rode on Edwin's shoulders, and I carried Sarah. Well- I carried her most of the time. Troy wanted to carry her occasionally because apparently she is a chick magnet.
Ok- a description of the pictures- from the top down, and right to left: Sam, Sarah, Edwin and I and the last point you can take with the busses- Hermit's Rest. Huge fireplace
The bird is this MASSIVE condor which flew over our heads at Angel Pass.
Next pic is just views of the canyon- I can't really remember at WHICH point it was taken. Not really the point though, is it??
The pic after that is what they call the alligator (or was it the crocodile??)- anyways- can you see it???
The next pic is Troy- he kept getting REALLY close to the edge- it was kind of scary. There are not a whole lot of barriers to keep you from falling off. Its a LONG way down.
Then there is the 4 of us, which was taken at the very first point you can get out and look around when you get there.
A pic of Sarah and I- and lastly another view.
Like I said- you HAVE to go check this place out someday if you have never been. It is just AMAZING.
Sorry the pics are disjointed from the text- I have not quite figured this all out, yet.

Greetings!

I have not done just a blog like this before. I have a Myspace, and a livejournal- but I decided- especially since I took a zillion pictures while we were in Arizona, and have had issues using Photobucket to share them with everyone- that I would make a blog specifically to write about stuff happening with Sam, Sarah, Edwin and I. I think this might be slightly easier and perhaps more informative than just sending a quick mass e-mail. Its tough to write most of the time. Even right now, Sam is sitting on the arm of my chair and Sarah is on my lap. I thought they were going to give me a few minutes to do this- but clearly not.
Coming up in the future- Arizona pictures!!! Including many amazing an beautiful shots from the Grand Canyon. The above shot was taken from my mom's back porch. Pretty, huh?
